The Malayan Burmese originated in the United States and only differs from the Burmese in color; otherwise they are share many of the same characteristic as the Burmese.

The Malayan Burmese is an adoring, friendly, affectionate cat; who loves nothing more than to give and receive love. If you are looking for a close companion who adores you as much as you adore him, the Malayan Burmese might just be the perfect creature to invite into your home.

The Malayan Burmese has a medium sized build. His body is similar to that of Orientals, it is muscular, lithe and solid. His legs and tail are long and slender. Atop his rounded head lie two blunt ears. The Malayan Burmese has all of the same characteristics of the Burmese, except for color. While the main color of the standard Burmese is a lovely sable (chocolate in Britain), the Malayan Burmese can come in a wide variety of solid colors.

The Malayan Burmese a relatively new breed that was only recently recognized. The first club to recognize them did so in 1980.
