Rex cats are some of the most unusual, because of their naturally curly fur. The California Rex is no exception, possessing beautiful wave-like curls. The California Rex has longer hair than the typical Rex cat, which gives it the look of 'marcel-waving'. For this reason the California Rex is also known as the Marcel. Over the last century at least 17 different breeds of Rex have been discovered or developed. Many of these have not been developed as new breeds and are now considered extinct. Some of the research indicates that the California Rex may be among its not developed cousins. The California Rex was discovered in California in 1959. |
