This energetic cat would make a great addition to homes seeking an affectionate high-energy cat. The Seychellois is often described as a demonstrative, scatterbrained and athletic cat, who requests much attention from its owner. Athletic and slim this cat possesses a build similar to cats of the oriental group. It possesses a long, svelte, elegant body with equally long legs, tail, and wedge shaped head. Atop the head rest large wide-set ears. This cat also possesses magnificent blue slanting oriental eyes. Coat types come in two varieties, short haired and longhaired. Markings for both include: white with a colored tail with large spots of color on the head (Seychellois Septiéme), body, and legs (Seychellois Huitiéme); white with a colored tail and small splashes of color on the head and legs; and almost entirely white with a colored tail and small splashes of color on the head (Seychellois Neuviéme). Most are born nearly white, with color patterns developing slowly. Common color variations are red, cream and apricot. Full color may not be realized until three yeas of age. It may also be difficult to distinguish longhaired and shorthaired varieties until two weeks of age. There seems to be debate as to the exact origins of this cat. Some maintain that it was created in England in the 1980s others, that it was developed in 1995 by Diane Barron who bred the line from Ragdolls. And still others hold that it was started in the 1970s by Patricia Turner. It is agreed that the Seychellois originated in England. |
