Care Information for Cats
(including any information on the Japanese Bobtail)

Introduction - Part 1 of 7

This care sheet concerns the care of domestic cats, members of the family Felidae. Cats normally found in the wild are discussed in a separate care sheet. Cats have been kept in captivity by humans for many years and provide a variety of functions in their homes, including pest control and companionship.

Before acquiring a cat, you may wish to research the type of cat you have in mind. Although most cats are fairly easy to care for, some may have specific needs that you may need to meet. Also, some cats may require more or your time than others; long - haired breeds, for example, may need more frequent grooming. In order to discover these special care needs, you should consult your cat's specific animal care information on the CentralPets.com website. After learning about the type of breed you wish to obtain, you may wish to speak with a veterinarian or with other people who have owned this type of cat before. They can give you suggestions or help you determine whether or not this type of cat is right for you.
